Emmanuel Musoni Rwililiza

Dr. Emmanuel is an internationally trained psychiatrist with expertise in working with psychiatric patients (outpatients and inpatients), migrants and refugees, palliative care, and community mental health. He has held several roles including that of Chief Medical Officer for the UNAMID-SORTONI Camp in Darfur/Sudan, Clinical Director at the Masaka District Hospital in Rwanda, chief resident of the Psychiatry Department at the University of Rwanda, and Medical Doctor in the Department of Mental Health and Psychiatry at the University Hospitals of Geneva.

Recent roles include head of psychiatry in the eastern province of Rwanda, mental health clinical mentor for 13 districts hospital in the eastern provinces and Kigali as well as a mental health consultant and researcher for both the Canadian humanitarian Health Ethics research group and Partners in Health-Rwanda.

Dr. Musoni is a recognized mental health expert by the WHO. His passion for mental health started in medical school where he founded the Mental Health Association in 2005, through which he designed several projects including the Mental Health Empowerment Project.

He is currently a consultant psychiatrist in the department of mental health at the university teaching hospital of Kigali (CHUK) where he also serves as a Principal Investigator for the Clinical study which assesses the treatment of schizophrenia with paliperidone palmitate in the Rwandan healthcare settings (CASPAR), the clinical trial is sponsored by Johnson and Johnson pharmaceutical company.

For his Ph.D., Dr. Musoni is enrolled at the Aarhus University in Denmark where he is conducting clinical research on Psychoeducation for patients with bipolar disorder in Rwanda.

Dr. Musoni has been working with Solid Minds since August 2018. He Works in Kinyarwanda, French, English, and Swahili.
