Edmond Dufatanye

Edmond is a certified group practitioner from the London Institute of Group Analysis. He has 14 years of clinical experience within inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health Nursing from the University of KwaZulu Natal and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Rwanda.  He gained clinical experience working with renowned psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric nurses from Rwanda, South Africa, and Belgium.

In his early professional days, he has had exposure to inpatient settings where he learned how to handle patients in crisis and later on, he worked in outpatient settings where he gained expertise in psychotherapy. On a monthly basis for five years, he was supervised by one of the finest Rwandan psychiatrist and psychotherapist, late Dr. Naasson Munyandamutsa and he acquired hands-on experience on how to treat complicated trauma mostly resulting from 1994 Genocide perpetrated against Tutsi. Among those clients, he worked with complicated cases of survivors from rape and torture. Edmond provides therapy to people suffering from psychosomatic disorders, alcohol and drug abuse and addiction, grief and loss, PTSD, depression, identity and adolescent crisis, anxiety, recovery from psychiatric crisis, and pre-marital and couples counselling. Edmond believes that everyone has the inner strength that can be reactivated afterlife stressors and challenges related to adversities.

Edmond is a lifelong learner, trainer, and supervisor in mental health. He has benefited a lot from trainings in various areas of mental health that include an eight-month training done in Belgium on the care of people suffering from drug abuse and drug addiction and a four-year training on Group Analysis.

Edmond has availability by appointment only on Saturdays and Sundays.
