
Ishimwe Shallon
Shallon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health from the University of Rwanda. She is currently working with Solid Minds as a mental health and wellness generalist intern. Shallon is a passionate mental health advocate with a strong commitment to youth empowerment and mental well-being.
During her time as a student at the University of Rwanda, Shallon played a pivotal role in fostering mental health awareness in institutions of higher learning. Through initiatives like peer support summits, overcoming pressure together events, Mental Health Country Tour, the Radiant Mentor program, and WhatsApp-based engagement, She actively worked with her team to bridge the gap between mental health services and students in need.
As a dedicated leader, Shallon has successfully spearheaded several impactful projects, including leading the project Back to School: Uplifting Communities Through Sustainable Livelihoods, which won her first place in the 2024 Baobab Give Back Competition. This initiative addresses school dropout rates by equipping families with income-generating opportunities, reinforcing Shallon’s commitment to creating sustainable change Recognized for her leadership and advocacy, Shallon has been selected as one of the first Africa Careers Network (ACN) Ambassadors at the University of Rwanda, supporting Mastercard Foundation Scholars in their professional journeys and community-driven initiatives. Her involvement with Baobab, ACN, and other youth-focused programs reflects a deep dedication to peer mentorship, professional skills development, and social impact.
At Solid Mind, Shallon is responsible for ensuring the voice of Mastercard Foundation Scholars and alumni from all populations are represented with equity.
