Samuel Amanya

Samuel is a mixed-methods researcher with extensive expertise in impact measurement, program evaluation, building MEL systems for a wide range of thematic areas, research design, large-scale survey implementation, and advanced data analytics using cutting-edge technologies and software. His professional experience spans multiple sectors, including financial analysis, enterprise risk management, business advisory, and development research across private, public, and non-profit sectors for both local and international organizations.

He has worked with notable organizations such as Abbott Laboratories in Chicago, Deloitte in San Francisco, Plan International, Oxfam America, World Vision, and the Mastercard Foundation. In these roles, Samuel has provided technical analyses, managed research teams and projects, and developed Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks, log frames, research tools, and analytical approaches. He has also been involved in building technical capacity to support data-driven decision-making and ensure effective project implementation.

In addition to his professional roles, Samuel founded a research and analytics professional services company, further expanding his impact on the field. He is also deeply committed to community initiatives and leadership development, actively participating in Civil Society Organizations and forums such as the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI).

Samuel earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also pursued part of his Master of Public Policy, focusing on research methodology and quantitative methods in areas such as economic development, program evaluation, and poverty and inequality. He is a fellow with the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) at UC Berkeley, a renowned research hub empowering researchers and program evaluators from Sub-Saharan Africa.

As the MEL Manager at Solid Minds, Samuel leverages his expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL), field survey implementation, research design, data analysis, econometrics, and statistical analysis to drive effective data-driven decision-making, ensure efficient project implementation, and foster innovation.

In his free time, Samuel enjoys exploring new places, engaging with his community, reading, trying new recipes, and mentoring young professionals in research and analytics.
