Kate Wolff

Verbal Behaviour

Kate is a highly experienced Verbal Behaviour Consultant and Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) with over 25 years of practice in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Her professional journey is rooted in a deep passion for understanding behaviour and empowering children with developmental delays and autism to communicate, learn, and thrive.

Extraordinary Experiences

Kate’s interest in behavioural science began in 1999, when a career transition opened the door to psychology and behavioural therapy. After a successful early career in the telecommunications sector in London where she worked for a French company, drawing on her background in English and French Kate pursued a Psychology degree. While studying, she joined the Young Autism Project as a tutor, working one-to-one with young children with autism. This hands-on experience exposed her to the transformative impact of intensive behavioural intervention, sparking a lifelong commitment to the field of ABA.

Today, Kate works primarily with children aged 1 to 11 years, supporting individuals with a wide range of developmental profiles, from mild to profound needs. Her work focuses on early intervention, communication development, and reducing challenging behaviours through evidence-based, compassionate practice.

Kate’s core passion lies in teaching communication whether through spoken language, sign language, or assistive communication devices. By tapping into each child’s natural motivation and teaching through play, she helps children learn to request what they want and need. This approach significantly reduces frustration and challenging behaviours, while opening the door to social interaction, play, and learning. As children develop focus and attention, Kate supports the transition into more structured learning and academic skills.

Kate believes strongly in a strength-based approach, recognising that every child has abilities as well as areas for growth what she refers to as “soft spots.” While autism is lifelong, Kate emphasises that children can learn, develop, and flourish when interventions focus on strengths and thoughtfully address skill gaps. This approach leads to meaningful improvements in quality of life for both children and their families.

In addition to working directly with children, Kate is deeply committed to training and mentoring therapists, collaborating with schools and therapy centres, and designing effective intervention programmes. She is known for her hands-on, practical style and her ability to support therapy teams in achieving measurable, lasting outcomes.

Kate practices trauma-informed, compassionate behavioural therapy and works in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the UK Society for Behaviour Analysts (UK-SBA). She holds a Master of Science in Applied Behaviour Analysis (MSc ABA) and has published research in a peer-reviewed journal (Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis – JABA). She currently works as an independent consultant across the UK and is increasingly specialising in early intervention for infants under one year of age.

Teaching children to communicate through motivation, respect, and evidence-based practice remains at the heart of Kate’s work and her enduring passion.
