He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health Nursing from the University of KwaZulu Natal and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Rwanda.  He gained clinical experience working with renowned psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric nurses from Rwanda, South Africa, and Belgium.

In his early professional days, he has had exposure to inpatient settings where he learned how to handle patients in crisis and later on, he worked in outpatient settings where he gained expertise in psychotherapy. On a monthly basis for five years, he was supervised by one of the finest Rwandan psychiatrist and psychotherapist, late Dr. Naasson Munyandamutsa and he acquired hands-on experience on how to treat complicated trauma mostly resulting from 1994 Genocide perpetrated against Tutsi. Among those clients, he worked with complicated cases of survivors from rape and torture.
